Clean water from Burnage to India – March 2014

Yoga students from Burnage and Levenshulme, in Manchester have raised over £300 to buy water filters for families in southern India. The families are the poorest in their communities and have no access to clean drinking water. The filters will allow them to transform filthy waterinto drinking water.

The money was raised by students from several Iyengar yoga classes, fundraising for the Foundation. The students sold tee shirts with the Foundation’s logo to their friends, family and fellow students.

Kim Skinner, the yoga teacher, said “Yoga was brought to us from India and helps us maintain our health and wellbeing, it is wonderful to be able to give something back”. Her classes and others meet weekly in South Manchester, both day and evening, and are attended by people of all ages.
