Fosbrook Folk Education Trust in partnership with Banks Lane Junior School Stockport, raises funds in aid of the Foundation
Fosbrook Folk Education Trust works in partnership with Banks Lane Junior School to deliver music and dance education to a range of age groups in Stockport. Since July last year, the school children and the Fosbrook students have been involved in raising funds for the Foundation.
The initial initiative was a Toy and Book sale and then a school project linked to the harvest festival whereby money was raised for water pumps for Indian villages. Later projects involving performances which included two carol services and two ceilidhs, as well as raffles.
The most recent initiative is the formation of a Junior Fund Raising Committee. Their first efforts will go into the production of a folk opera which highlights the plight of child labourers in Victorian Britain during the industrial revolution. Parallels will be drawn with the exploitation of children in the Indian sub continent today and the funds generated will support the Foundation’s educational program.
