Charity Garba and Dandiya Evening – 2012
An inspirational lady, Alka Mistry from St Albans in Hertfordshire came forward with support from her wide network of family, friends and colleagues to set up this magnificent fundraiser in aid of the Foundation. People came from far and wide to help make the evening such a success.
The theme of the evening was centred on Gujarati folk dance (Garba and Dandiya – stick dancing) and music. Alka’s family hosted and cooked and sold wonderful Gujarati treats which contributed to the final sum raised. Fantastic music by a live band and dancing by all who attended contributed to a great night of festivities.
Raffle prizes and sale of Foundation t-shirts meant that the final sum raised by this event was a magnificent £2,346.56. A massive thanks to Alka, her family, friends and her network of supporters.
